I grew up in Kegalle in the 1970s. I gained my MPhil from Keele University, UK, and both, MA and BA Honours degrees and HETC from the University of Colombo. I joined Sabaragamuwa University in 1997 after gaining professional experience at J-Chem Lanka Pvt. Ltd. and the Vibhavi Cultural and Art Centre. At Sabaragamuwa University, I served for several years as a Student Counsellor and for three years as the Deputy Senior Student Counsellor. I am the initiate Coordinator of the Sith Arana Counselling Centre. Additionally, I have held roles as the Director of Career Guidance and Senior Treasurer on three occasions. My research interests include gender studies, counseling, constitutional and political development, media and politics, gender mainstreaming in post-conflict reconstruction, and women's roles in the peace process. I am also passionate about addressing gender-based violence, school counselling, and the psychological issues faced by children.
